Symptoms

When you use a Tabular instance of Microsoft SQL Server 2016 Analysis Services on a computer that has multiple processor groups, you may experience one or more of the following issues:

  • The group affinity settings for the Analysis Services (Tabular mode) threads are not logged in Msmdsrv.log.
  • Analysis Services (Tabular mode) can use only the processors in the first processor group regardless of the configuration in the Msmdsrv.ini file.
  • The limit on the number of cores that can be used by a specific edition of Analysis Services (Tabular mode) is not correctly implemented.

        
      

Resolution

The issue was first fixed in the following cumulative update of SQL Server:

Recommendation: Install the latest cumulative update for SQL Server

Each new cumulative update for SQL Server contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous cumulative update. We recommend that you download and install the latest cumulative updates for SQL Server:
