Symptoms

When you run the Master Data Services (MDS) system stored procedure udpConvertCollectionAndConsolidatedMembersToLeaf, you may experience one of the following issues:

  • Data loss may occur when you run the stored procedure.
  • Some items or features are not converted correctly.

        
      

Resolution

The issue was first fixed in the following cumulative update of SQL Server:

Recommendation: Install the latest cumulative update for SQL Server

Each new cumulative update for SQL Server contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous cumulative update. We recommend that you download and install the latest cumulative updates for SQL Server:

Collections and Explicit Hierarchies are deprecated in SQL Server 2016 MDS. The system stored procedure udpConvertCollectionAndConsolidatedMembersToLeaf converts explicit hierarchies to recursive derived hierarchies, and converts consolidated and collection members to leaf members.
