Symptoms

Assume that you install an Analysis Services PowerPivot instance in SQL Server 2017 and Microsoft SQL Server 2016, and then you install the Microsoft Security Bulletin MS16-136 (KB 3199641) for SQL Server 2016. In this situation, when you open a PowerPiovt model that connects to a Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) data source type, an error may occur. 

Resolution

This issue is fixed in the following cumulative updates for SQL Server:

       Cumulative Update 1 for SQL Server 2017

       Cumulative Update 4 for SQL Server 2016 SP1

       Cumulative Update 7 for SQL Server 2016
