Symptoms

Assume that you have Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) installed on SQL Server 2017. You run a particular Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) function like SUMMARIZECOLUMNS with a filter, for example:

summarizecolumns

(
filter('Date of First Production','Date of First Production'[Month Number] = 1),
"X",'Production Work Orders'[Average of Production Start Delay Minutes (Production Work Orders)]
)

In this scenario, SSAS may crash, and you receive the following error message:

An unexpected exception occurred.

Additionally, a dump file is generated.

Note The process will succeed when you use the same DAX query with another filter.
