Symptoms

Assume that you have Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) installed in an instance of SQL Server. You design a parameterized Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) prepare (<Content>Schema</Content>) query that's generated in the Query Designer of Report Builder in SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). When you execute the query, you may receive internal error messages that resembles the following:

An unexpected exception occurred.

Note The same query embedded in SSRS reports runs as expected.
