This security update resolves a Microsoft SharePoint Server elevation of privilege vulnerability, Microsoft SharePoint denial of service vulnerability, and Microsoft SharePoint Server spoofing vulnerability. To learn more about the vulnerabilities, see the following security advisories:​​​​

  • To apply this security update, you must have the release version of Microsoft SharePoint Server Subscription Edition installed on the computer.

Improvements and fixes

This security update contains fixes for the following nonsecurity issues in SharePoint Server Subscription Edition:

  • Fixes an issue in which pages are always created as the default content type in the Site Pages library.

  • Fixes an issue in which renaming a document to an existing document in the document library displays an erroneous error message.

  • Fixes an issue in which the token cache cannot be accessed correctly.

  • Fixes an issue in which property demotion doesn't work for ink-enabled .docx files.

  • Fixes an issue in which the listdata.svc service cannot retrieve lists that have a name that contains spaces, even if the name contains a decoding space.

  • Fixes an issue in which SharePoint Site Quota Warning Alerts are not sent by using the ExternalUrlZone property if the UseExternalUrlZoneForAlerts property is set to true.

  • Fixes an issue in which some fields in the SharePoint Document Information Panel (DIP) cannot be updated from Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise client.

  • Fixes an issue in which users who have a Read permission level can see the Upload button and, therefore, can upload files through drag and drop in the document library web part.

  • Fixes an issue in which the Viewlsts.aspx page cannot be correctly opened after Form Based Authentication is added.

  • Fixes an issue in which the loading pointer (spinning circle) appears instead of the location in the Sites section after you select the Move to button in OneDrive.
