Improvements and fixes
This security update fixes an issue in which duplicate configuration elements are added to SharePoint Web.config files every time that you run SharePoint upgrade. This activity eventually causes those files to exceed the Web.config file size limitation that's configured in IIS. This issue generates multiple "HTTP 500.19 - Cannot read configuration file because it exceeds the maximum file size" error messages when you browse a SharePoint website. This fix removes the existing duplicate configuration elements and prevents future duplicates from being added.
This security update also contains a fix for the following nonsecurity issue in SharePoint Enterprise Server 2016. To fix this issue completely, you have to install KB 5002050 and KB 5002545 together with this update.
-
Fixes an issue in which OneNote cannot safely unload LibletAPI across multiple DLLs it owns. After you install this update, LibletAPI can be safely uninitialized in various OneNote DLLs by uninitializing in a locked, reference-counted code block.
