This improvement introduces dynamic cardinality estimation for spatial tessellation functions that are used together with GEOMETRY_AUTO_GRID and GEOGRAPHY_AUTO_GRID spatial indexes. This feature helps the query optimizer produce better plans and improves the lock escalation experience.
