April 2015 servicing stack update for Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2

This article describes a servicing stack update for Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2. The update fixes some issues.

About servicing stack

The servicing stack includes the files and resources that are required to service a Windows image. This includes the Package Manager executable, the required servicing libraries, and other resources. The servicing stack is included in all Windows installations.



Issues that are fixed in this update

Issue 1

Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) commands fail with a "0x800f0906" error if a Features on Demand command runs during a download process.

Issue 2

When Component Based Servicing (CBS) scavenging starts, if a file is being used, the scavenging process crashes.

Issue 3

Group Trustee Advanced Installer (AI) installation fails when you install a package on a read-only domain controller (RODC).

How to obtain this update

Important Do not install a language pack after you install this update. If you do, the language-specific changes in the update will not be applied, and you will have to reinstall the update. For more information, see Add language packs to Windows.
