This article describes the Microsoft Excel Online issues that are fixed in the Excel Online hotfix package that is dated October 25, 2011.
INTRODUCTION
Issue that this hotfix package fixes
When you click Open in Excel, an .odc connection file is opened instead of an .xlsx file.
Note This issue occurs after you apply Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 Service Pack 1 (SP1).
Excel Calculation Service cannot display workbooks if no root site collection is created for a web application.
Note This issue occurs after you apply Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 SP1.
Resolution
Hotfix information
A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing.
