Bug: #50003629 (SQL Hotfix)
Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2005 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2005 fix release.

Symptoms
You have a SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services report or a Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services report that contains many datasets. When you try to view the report in the ReportViewer control in Microsoft Visual Studio 2008, you receive the following error message:
An error occurred during rendering of the report.
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Cause
This issue occurs because the ReportViewer control is not thread safe. When the ReportViewer control is rendering a report, the System.IndexOutOfRangeException exception occurs, and a NULL object is referenced.
Resolution
Hotfix information
A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.

To apply this hotfix, you must have Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack 1 installed.
