Change the site access permissions for an extension

  1. In Microsoft Edge, select Extensions, located to the right of your browser address bar.   ​​​​​​​ Manage extensions from the Microsoft Edge browser bar.

    Note: If you don't see Extensions to the right of your browser address bar, select Settings and more > Extensions.

  2. For the extension you want to change site access permissions, select ... More actions and hover to This can read and change site data.

  3. Choose the required access permission for the selected extension:

    • When you click the extension: This setting only allows the extension to access the current site in the open tab or window when you select the extension. If you close the tab or window, you’ll have to click the extension to turn it on again.

    • On [current site]: Allow the extension to automatically read and change data on the current site.

    • On all sites: Allow the extension to automatically read and change data on all sites.

Manage site access settings for extensions

  1. In Microsoft Edge, select Extensions, located to the right of your browser address bar.   ​​​​​​​ Manage extensions from the Microsoft Edge browser bar.

  2. Select Manage extensions.

  3. Select Details shown below the extension.

  4. Under Site access section, manage access using the available options:​​​​​​​

    • Select Automatically allow access on the following sites to allow the extension to access supported sites.

    • Select Allow in InPrivate to control whether the extension can run in InPrivate mode.

    • Select Allow access to file URLs to allow or block access to local file URLs.
