What to try if a touchscreen doesn't work in Windows

If a touchscreen isn't responsive or not working correctly in Windows, try restarting the Windows device. If after the restart the touchscreen is still having problems, check for updates by following these steps:

1. Right-click on the Start menu and then select Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options.

2. Make sure Receive updates for other Microsoft products is switched On.

3. Under Additional options, select Optional updates.

4. Select all optional updates and then select the Download and install button.

5. In the left-hand pane of the Settings app, select Windows Update .

6. In the Windows Update window, select the Check for updates button.

7. Once available updates populate, install all available updates.

8. After all updates are finished installing, restart the Windows device even if none of the updates required a restart.

2. In the Advance options window that opens, under Update options, make sure Receive updates for other Microsoft products when you update Windows is switched On.

3. In the top left corner of the Advance options window, select the back arrow next to Settings.

4. In the Windows Update window, select the Check for updates button.

5. Once available updates populate, install all available updates.

6. If under the Check for updates button there's a View optional updates link:

   1. Select the View optional updates link.
   2. Select all optional updates.
   3. Select the Download and install button.

7. After all updates are finished installing, restart the Windows device even if none of the updates required a restart.
