Symptoms
Consider the following scenario:
-
You have a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2.
-
You host a .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 (SP1)-based Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) service in an Internet Information Services (IIS) virtual directory on the computer.
-
You configure the IIS virtual directory to use a Negotiable 2-based authentication provider in IIS Manager.
For example, you configure the IIS virtual directory to use the LiveSSP provider.
In this scenario, a System.NotSupportedException exception occurs, and then you receive the following error message. Therefore, the WCF services might not respond.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request.
The authentication scheme 'Negotiate:LiveSSP' is not supported.
If you run Microsoft Exchange Server that uses the WCF service, various issues may occur. For example, the service encounters a ServiceModel.Activation exception, and then you receive the following message:
WebHost failed to process a request.
