Symptoms
When you have a table with large number of columns that are nullable in SQL Server 2019 and the row width size calculation falls short of the maximum DMS buffer size of 32K, you may receive an error. In addition, an incorrect return path is chosen.
Status
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

This issue is fixed in the following cumulative update for SQL Server:

Workaround
To work around this issue, you can add views on top of the table and reduce the columns that are selected on a single table\view.
