Use the Announcements web part to display short messages for important communications in your Home site. This web part is available only in SharePoint home sites.

Announcements are created first and then displayed using this web part. Typically this web part its added to the home page of the home site, somewhere in the top section of the home page for clear visibility. 

How to create Announcements

Note: Some functionality is introduced gradually to organizations that have opted in to the Targeted Release program. This means that you may not yet see this feature, or it may work differently than what is described in the help articles. Also this web part is available only in the M365 public cloud. Not available in GCC, GCCH, DoD etc.

Add an Announcements web part to a SharePoint Online modern page

  1. If you're not in edit mode already, click Edit at the top right of the page in the site where you want to add this web part. Ensure you have the appropriate permissions.

  2. Select the + Add a new web part icon or open the Toolbox.

  3. Search for Announcements in the web part menu and select it.

  4. In the properties pane, modify setting as required.

  5. The most recently posted announcements will show first.
