Forward a message in Microsoft Teams
Forwarding a message in Teams allows you to easily share information with others. You can share messages, files, loop components, app cards, and images with one person, a group chat, or a channel. You can also start a new group chat based on a forwarded message.Â
-
Hover over the message and choose More options
 > Forward.Note: You can forward up to five images in a single message. Â
-
Begin typing the person's name, group chat or channel you want to share content with, then select it from the drop-down list. Adding multiple people will forward the content to a group chat. Â
-
Optionally, add a message above your forwarded content for context.
4. Select Forward to send your message.Â
Note: Team admins can apply sensitivity labels that limit the sharing of content. If a team has sensitivity labels that block forwarding, you won't see the option to forward messages from channels in that team.
Find the original message
When you receive a forwarded message in Teams, look for the timestamp in the forwarded message header. Select the timestamp to open the original chat or channel message.
Note: If you have permission to view the original conversation, Teams will take you directly to it. If you don’t have permission, you’ll see a message indicating that the content isn’t available.
