To use OneDrive, you need an active account:
- Either a Microsoft personal account. Create one if you don't have one.
- And/or a work or school account. You can have multiple work or school accounts with OneDrive, but only one personal account.
Windows 10 22H2 or Windows 11 (32-bit or 64-bit)
Windows Server 2016 or newer
- Processor: 1.6 GHz or higher, or Intel-based Mac computer, or a Windows 10/11 ARM-based PC
- Memory: 1 GB of RAM or higher
- Resolution: 1024 × 576 minimum
- Internet connection: High-speed Internet access is recommended
- File systems: NTFS or HFS+ (case insensitive) or APFS (case insensitive)
Note
- As of August 15, 2026, we ended support for the OneDrive desktop apps running on Windows 10 21H2 and earlier. The app may continue to function, but it will not receive new updates and compatibility and functionality are not guaranteed. Versions can be downloaded from OneDrive desktop app for earlier versions of Windows.
- As of January 1, 2022, we ended support for OneDrive desktop apps running on Windows 7, 8, and 8.1, but versions can be downloaded from OneDrive desktop app for earlier versions of Windows.
- As of August 20, 2021, OneDrive will no longer support Windows Server 2008 R2, as it has been out of extended support since January 2020. Versions can be downloaded for 32-bit or 64-bit.
Beta or Preview releases
We love early adopters, but PC and Mac beta releases aren't supported. You'll need to stick with production releases to continue to use OneDrive reliably.
However, if you're keen to always have the latest and greatest, there are two ways to get early access to new features:
- Join the OneDrive Preview for Android or OneDrive Preview for iOS.
- On your OneDrive desktop app, select Help & Settings > Settings > About and select Get early access.
