About this offer:

Since October 2025, "Microsoft 365 Personal 24 months free offer" is included with some Office Pre-installed PCs sold in Japan only.

Simply put, you can start the 24-month subscription for free. And if you have never experienced the features of Microsoft 365 Personal, instead of starting the full 24-month free subscription, you can start the 3-month free trial subscription.

As the result of experiencing the features of Microsoft 365 Personal during the trial period, if you decide to extend to the full 24-month subscription, please activate an additional 21-month free subscription before the trial subscription expired.

If you decide that you no longer need the Microsoft 365 Personal during the 3-month trial subscription, you can switch to Office Home and Business 2024 for free after the trial subscription expired.

Microsoft cloud storage (OneDrive, Outlook.com):

If your Microsoft 365 Personal subscription is expired, your storage allowance will revert to 5 GB of cloud storage, which includes your OneDrive and Outlook.com attachments, and 15 GB of Outlook.com storage.

If you or people you shared a subscription with have used more than the free allowances, you won't be able to upload, edit, or sync new files (such as Camera Roll) to your OneDrive, and you will not be able to send or receive email in Outlook.com.

If you have files that exceed the free 5GB stored when your Microsoft 365 Personal subscription expires, this message shows in OneDrive app

This message means you have exceeded your cloud storage quota.

If you exceed your Microsoft storage:

  • You won't be able to upload, edit, or sync new files (such as Camera Roll) to your OneDrive. Your existing files will remain but will be read-only.

  • You will not be able to send or receive email in Outlook.com, even if you have not exceeded your email storage quota.

  • You will not be able to send or receive any Microsoft Teams messages that contain attachments.

  • After 6 months, we may delete your OneDrive and all files within it. Once deleted, these files are non-recoverable.

If you exceed your email storage:

  • You will not be able to send or receive email in Outlook.com.

  • Note: Any emails sent to you are returned to the sender. Once you get back under your storage quota, the sender will need to resend the email.

Existing Microsoft 365 Personal subscribers:

Yes, if you turn on the 'Recurring Billing' switch during the Windows setup or the initial setup of the client application, you can start the 24-month period. That 24-month subscription will be added to and integrated with the remaining period of your existing subscription.

However, in Microsoft 365 Personal, the maximum subscription period that a user can extend in advance is ruled with 5 years. Please note that if there are more than 3 years remaining on your existing subscription, you cannot redeem this free offer.

Therefore, before purchasing an Office Pre-installed PC that comes with this 24-month subscription free offer, please be sure to check the remaining period of your existing subscription.

Yes, you can start the trial subscription if you turn off the "Recurring Billing" switch during the initial setup of Windows or the client application. However, that 3-month subscription will be integrated with the remaining period of your existing subscription, so overall it will become a regular subscription rather than a trial subscription.

Yes, you can add and integrate the 21-month subscription to your current subscription if you activate that subscription according to the steps in the article.

No, you cannot get it. This is because your subscription will be a regular subscription total more than 3 months, not a trial subscription. Your subscription will continue if 3 months will pass, so your MS account will not meet the eligibility to get the Office Home and Business 2024 for free.

If your purpose for purchasing an Office Pre-installed PC with the "Microsoft 365 Personal 24-month free offer" is not to get the "Microsoft 365 Personal 24-month free" but to get the "Office Home and Business 2024 free offer," please prepare a new Microsoft account, start the 3-month trial subscription as a new user during the initial setup, and then after the trial subscription expired, follow the steps to get the Office Home and Business 2024 free offer.
