Summary

Users in your organization might notice that the following message (watermark) is displayed on the desktop or in Settings:

System requirements not met. Go to Setting to learn more.

This issue occurs when the device hardware does not meet minimum system requirements. For more information about this requirement, see Installing Windows 11 on devices that don't meet minimum system requirements.

More information

As an administrator, you might want to turn off the “System requirements not met” message. To do this, use either Group Policy editor or a device management solution.

Group Policy

To edit Group Policy to turn off the minimum system requirements watermark, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Search window. To do this, do one of the following:

    • Right-click Start and then click Search.

    • Press Windows +S on the keyboard.

    • Click the Search icon on the taskbar.

  2. In the Search bar, type group policy and then click edit group policy.

  3. Go to Local Computer Policy > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System.

    Hide messages

  4. In the Group Policy “Hide messages when Windows system requirements are not met”, click Enabled. If this policy setting is enabled, messages about the minimum system requirements are not met will not be displayed on the desktop or in Settings.

Device management

This feature can also be controlled by using a mobile device management (MDM) solution such as Microsoft Intune. For more information, see Device management overview.
