Take pictures and videos with Surface Duo

Use your Surface Duo 2 to take pictures and videos of those moments you want to capture. With the dynamic triple lens camera on Surface Duo, you'll be able to capture all those special moments.

After you take a picture, you can review and edit using both screens.

Tap Photos on your Home screen to see your pictures.

Tip: You can open the Camera quickly anytime you're using your Surface Duo—just quickly press the Fingerprint Power Button twice. To change the setting anytime, open Settings, then tap Surface Duo features > Camera and flashlight.

  1. On the bottom of your Home screen, tap Camera.
    The Camera app automatically spans across both screens when you open it with no other apps open.

  2. Tap Switch camera to use the front-facing camera, smile, and then tap the Photo button.

  2. If you want to zoom in, tap the .5x, 1x, or 2x shortcut. Tap and drag right or left to adjust the zoom level quickly

  3. Tap the Photo button.
    Night mode will automatically turn on when needed to help you get those pictures when there's not a lot of light. If you don’t want to use Night mode, tap the down arrow at the top of your screen, then tap the moon icon.

    You'll be able to review as you go because the camera appears on one screen and your pictures appear on the other.

  1. On the bottom of your Home screen, tap Camera.

  2. In the Camera app, tap Panorama.

  3. Tap the Photo button, and then slowly move your Surface Duo left or right and keep it as straight as possible.

  4. Tap Stop when you’re done.

  2. Tap Video.

  3. Press the Record button to start recording the video and press the red Stop button when you’re done.

Tip: Want to take a picture while recording video? Just press the Photo button that appears while you’re recording video.

  1. On the bottom of your Home screen, tap Camera.

  2. Press the Photo button. Your pictures will appear on the screen.

  3. Select the picture you want to edit, then tap Edit.

  4. Make the edits you want. You can crop your pictures, adjust the color, or add filters.

  5. Tap Save.

  2. Tap the down arrow at the top, then tap Settings. The photo and video settings appear on the other side.

  3. Change the settings there, such as photo and video size, HDR, video format, and more.

  4. Tap Back when you’re done.

  1. On the bottom of your Home screen, tap Camera.

  2. Drag the Camera app to the middle to maximize it across both screens.

  3. Press the Photo button. The selfies you take will appear on the other screen, so you can see how they look as you take them.

  2. Tap Settings (three vertical dots) on the right to see photo and video settings.

  3. Change the settings there, such as photo and video size, HDR, video format, and more.

  4. Tap Back when you’re done.
