Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 3 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 3 fix release.

Symptoms

Assume that you try to install a Microsoft SQL Server 2008 or Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 clustered instance or upgrade a SQL Server clustered instance on mount points. In this situation, the installation or upgrade process fails, and you receive the following error message:

Date Time spid9s Error: 5184, Severity: 16, State: 2.
Date Time spid9s Cannot use file 'Drive Name:\MSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\DATA\temp_MS_AgentSigningCertificate_database.mdf' for clustered server. Only formatted files on which the cluster resource of the server has a dependency can be used. Either the disk resource containing the file is not present in the cluster group or the cluster resource of the Sql Server does not have a dependency on it.
