Note
The tutorial steps in this article are for theĀ Clipchamp video editor for personal accounts. The same principles apply to Clipchamp for work and school.
Learn how to remove background noise from videos and audio with the noise suppression tool in the Clipchamp video editor. The AI noise suppression feature is compatible with any audio file added to the editing timeline. To use noise suppression on a video, just separate the audio from the video first.
Note
Noise suppression is available in the Audio tab of the right property panel. It works on audio clips, detached audio, and audio recordings. For video clips with embedded audio, detach the audio first (see step 2 below).
How to remove background noise
- To use the noise suppression tool, import noisy video footage or an audio file. Click My media in the left sidebar, then click Import media to upload a video or audio file from your computer. You can also import from OneDrive or Google Drive using the drop-down arrow. Drag and drop your video or audio onto the timeline to begin.
- If you are removing background noise from a video, you'll need to detach the audio from video. To do this, click on your video on the timeline, then in the right property panel, click the Audio tab. Then click the Detach audio button. Your audio asset will automatically appear as a separate clip on the timeline below your video. The video asset will also appear as muted on the timeline as it now has no sound.
- Click on your audio asset so it's highlighted on the timeline. Next, in the right property panel, click the Audio tab. Here, toggle the Noise suppression switch to On. The editor will process the audio to remove background noise, hum, and echo.
How to turn off noise suppression
If you want to revert your audio, toggle the Noise suppression switch to Off in the Audio tab. You can also delete your asset on the timeline, then drag and drop the original asset onto the timeline from My media in the left sidebar.
