About Copilot Workspaces
What is Copilot Workspaces?
Copilot Notebooks is now called Copilot Workspaces. A workspace is a shared place where you and your team can keep project information and files together and work with Copilot on an ongoing workstream.
What is new in Copilot Workspaces?
Copilot Workspaces is team-first, with an updated experience designed for team collaboration. You can collaborate with your team across different documents at the same time, see what they’re working on with live cursors, and work together with Copilot to turn shared context into shared progress.
Where can I find Copilot Workspaces?
Copilot Workspaces is available in the Microsoft Copilot app with the latest collaborative experiences. These experiences will roll out to Copilot Workspaces in OneNote over time.
What is the difference between Copilot Projects and Copilot Workspaces?
Both help you organize your work, but they are designed for different ways of working:
Projects are for your own work. A project keeps your chats, tasks, files, and results in one place. You can find projects on the Home tab and use them with Chat and Cowork.
Workspaces are for group work. A workspace gives your team a shared place to work with Copilot on a workstream.
You can use both. As we roll out changes, you can bring a file or other item from a project into a workspace to share it with your team.
Your existing notebooks and content
Will my existing Copilot Notebooks become workspaces?
Yes. Your existing notebooks automatically become workspaces. Everything you already added or created stays in them. If you have shared your notebook with others, that sharing will continue. Otherwise, the workspace will remain private.
Are any Copilot Notebooks features going away?
No. Everything you could do in Copilot Notebooks still works in Copilot Workspaces. Workspaces adds new ways to work with other people.
Do I need to do anything when Copilot Notebooks becomes Copilot Workspaces?
No. You do not need to move or update your content. Your existing content remains available. If you want to work with others, you can invite them to your workspace.
