Connect your Android to Microsoft Teams (free) with Link to Windows

Before you start, here are some items you might want to review.

You can link your phone from Chat on your taskbar or the mini Teams window depending on what version of Teams you are using.

Not sure which version of Teams you're using? If you see Chat in Windows 11 from your taskbar, then you're not on the latest version of Microsoft Teams (free) and Windows 11. Learn more about how to update Teams and Windows and get started with the mini Teams window.

  1. Open Teams.

    • For Chat in Windows 11. Open Chat from taskbar. Then select What's new and more at the top of the Chat window > Link your phone.

    • For the mini Teams window. Open the mini Teams window from your taskbar. Then Select What's new and more > Link your phoneMake it easier to access the mini Teams window when you pin Teams to your taskbar.

Note: If you don't have any existing chats under Chat Teams chat button., you'll see a prompt to link your phone.

  2. After the QR code appears on your desktop, scan the QR code with your phone.

Note: Link to Windows app is preinstalled on select mobile devices running Android 9.0 or later. For all other Android devices running Android 7.0 or later, you'll be prompted to download the Link to Windows app from the Google Play Store.

  3. Enter the verification code that appears on your desktop into your phone. Then enter your Microsoft Account (MSA) password.

  4. You'll receive several notifications on your Android device requesting permission to access things like your SMS text messages and contacts. Allowing access to this information lets us display it in the Link to Windows app and simplifies sending messages to contacts through Microsoft Teams (free). Review the requests to finish linking your Android to Microsoft Teams (free).

After the pairing is complete, you'll see your SMS text messages in the window under Recent. Your SMS text messages and the most recent one-to-one group chats from Teams are now in one place to view.

Note: To help keep your online experiences safe and positive, you can stop people from reaching you or showing you any inappropriate content by blocking them on your Android device. For steps, see the manual for your device.
