Note: Channel Agent for Teams channels is currently in public preview, and features are likely to change. To learn more about Microsoft's public preview program, see Get early access to new features in Microsoft Teams.
Channel Agent is created within a Teams channel, either manually by you or automatically when a new channel is set up.
Once created, the agent is visible in the channel's app list and the People, agents, and bots roster.
Note: If a team owner has turned off the default Allow members to add and remove apps setting, only team owners can create and delete Channel Agent in that team’s channels.
Manually create Channel Agent for an existing channel
-
Navigate to the channel you want to create Channel Agent for.
-
On the channel’s menu bar, selectÂ
 Open agents and bots. -
In the Agents and bots pane, find theÂ
Add an agent to this channel suggestion at the top of the pane. -
Select the Add button.
-
A pop-up window will ask for you to confirm if you want to add an agent to your channel. Select the Add button.
-
Channel Agent is created for that channel with a name that matches the channel’s name.
-
Automatically create Channel Agent when creating a new channel
By default, when a new channel is created, Channel Agent is also created for the channel.
Your IT admin can turn off the ability to automatically create Channel Agent when creating a new channel.
-
In Teams, navigate to a team you have permission to add channels to.
-
Next to the team name in the teams list, select ... More options.
-
From the options menu, selectÂ
 Add channel. -
Fill in the channel details, and then select the Create button.
Note:  When creating a new team in Teams, Teams creates an initial channel in that team. When that initial channel is created, Channel Agent is also created for that channel.
