Copilot can transform recorded Teams meetings into short, engaging video summaries that spotlight the most important moments. Quickly catch up on key topics, decisions, and discussion points without watching the entire meeting.

Important: Video recap in Microsoft 365 Copilot is only available to users who have a Microsoft 365 Copilot subscription.

How does video recap work?

Copilot analyzes the meeting transcript and identifies key topics, decisions, and discussion points. It then creates a narrated video recap by combining selected clips, captions, and audio narration.

  • Selects short video snippets (typically 20–40 seconds) from the original recording for clarity and impact.

  • Generates AI narration and captions to summarize and provide context for selected clips.

  • Combines snippets, captions, and narration into a cohesive, easy-to-watch video recap that reflects the tone and flow of the meeting.

To create a video recap of a recorded Teams meeting:

  1. Sign in to Copilot Chat using your Microsoft 365 work or school account.

  2. In the Message Copilot box, enter a prompt, like:

Icon depicting a document with sparkles Recap /meeting_EXP.

  3. Select the Send button.

Copilot begins generating a video recap of the referenced meeting.

What can video recap do?

  • Summarize long meetings into short, engaging video recaps.

  • Highlight key decisions and discussion points for quick review.

  • Provide narrated recaps with captions for better context and accessibility.

What are the limitations of video recap?

  • Currently, video recaps aren’t editable.

  • Meetings must be recorded and typically at least 10 minutes long.
