Set up or manage your automatic replies with Copilot

1. Sign in to Copilot Chat using your Microsoft 365 work or school account.

2. In Copilot Chat, enter in a prompt like:

   Set up automatic replies for tomorrow.

   

3. Review the drafted automatic reply that Copilot prepares based on your previous out-of-office style and the details you provide.

4. Confirm the draft message to set up your automatic reply.

5. To make changes later, use prompts like:

   Update my automatic reply.

   Turn off my automatic replies.

How Copilot personalizes your automatic reply

When drafting your automatic reply, Copilot uses:

• The style and tone of your previous automatic replies.

• The context you share in your prompt or the chat, like date ranges, backup people, and message details.

• If you have an email open in Copilot Chat, Copilot can reference the email details.

  • For example, if you have a vacation approval email open, Copilot automatically uses the dates from the email content to help draft the automatic reply.
