Symptoms

Issue 1

Text of Domain Name System (DNS) events is not rendered correctly in the Event Viewer and Computer Management snap-ins on Windows Server 2012 R2-based DNS servers if the December 2014 update rollup 3013769 is installed, but the October 2014 update rollup 3995388is not installed.

Issue 2

Text of DNS events is not rendered correctly in the Global Logs node of Windows Server 2012 R2 DNS Manager if the August 2014 update rollup 2975719 or a later version of monthly update rollup is installed.

Resolution

Resolution for Issue 1

To fix the issue that's described in the "Issue 1" section, install hotfix 3082532.

Note Hotfix 3082532 doesn't fix the issue that's described in the "Issue 2" section.

Workaround

Workaround for Issue 1

Install the October 2014 update rollup 3995388before or after you install the December 2014 update rollup 3013769 to prevent or work around this issue.

Workaround for Issue 2

View the DNS events in the Event Viewer and Computer Management snap-ins after you install hotfix 3082532.
