There are a number of possible explanations for why verification codes don't always arrive. Read through the list of the most common causes, and see if any of them apply to you, or use our troubleshooter to help guide you.

Contact Support. For technical support, go to Contact Microsoft Support, enter your problem and select Get Help. You can link your social media account in one of two ways: Use the Xbox mobile app to scan the QR code. Select the Link option which will launch the Microsoft Edge app on Xbox. You can choose to link your Discord, Reddit, Steam, Twitch, or other social media account.

Sign in to Hotmail or Outlook.com. To sign in to Outlook.com or Hotmail, you'll need your Microsoft Account username and password. Sign-in. Note: Check the Don't show this again box if you want to go straight to Outlook.com next time (not recommended for shared computers).

To redeem a Microsoft gift card, Xbox download code or token, select Redeem code below, sign in, and enter or paste the code or token value. Redeem Code. Tip: If you bought the wrong code, please contact the retailer.

Enter your preferred email address, or click on Get a new email address to get a new one from Microsoft. You can choose from @outlook.com or @hotmail.com domains. Create a strong password and click on Next. Enter your first and last name and click on Next.

On your PC, in the Phone Link, select Messages. To start a new conversation, select New message. Enter the name or phone number of a contact. Select the person you want to send a message to. A new message thread opens for you to begin with.
