Share your desktop screen or mobile camera with Copilot and ask about what you’re seeing. Copilot answers through voice chat, using both what’s on your screen and your work data to help you understand and act on visual information faster.
Note
You need a Microsoft 365 Copilot license to use vision. Vision works during a voice conversation, so make sure your microphone is turned on.
Share your screen with Copilot on desktop
- Sign in to Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat using your Microsoft 365 account.
- Start a new voice conversation by selecting Start a new voice chat in the Message Copilot prompt box or press the Copilot key or Win+C on Windows.
- Select Start screen share, then choose your entire screen or a specific window.
- Ask Copilot about what’s on screen using your voice.
- For example, "Summarize this dashboard and highlight anything unusual."
- A Sharing your screen message shows while sharing is active when using the Copilot desktop app or Copilot web app on Windows.
- A Sharing screen or Sharing (content) message and a purple frame around the shared content show when using Quick View in the Copilot desktop app.
- Ask follow-up questions in the same conversation as needed.
- Select Stop sharing when you’re done.
- When you stop sharing your screen, the voice chat doesn't stop too.
Share your camera with Copilot on mobile
- Open the Microsoft 365 Copilot mobile app and start a new voice conversation.
- Select the camera icon.
- Point your camera at what you want help with and ask Copilot.
- For example, “How do I fix this error?”
- Select the camera icon again to stop sharing.
Tip
Keep the content you’re asking about in view and avoid switching windows too quickly so Copilot responds based on the right content.
Try vision in Copilot with prompts like
- “What are the key trends in this dashboard, and how do they compare with the report I reviewed last month?”
- “Look at this banner and the feedback I received. What changes should I make first?”
- “I’m stuck on this screen. Walk me through the next steps to complete this task.”
Note
Each vision conversation is independent. Copilot doesn’t reuse screens or camera input from earlier chats, and vision conversations can’t be resumed.
