Storage requirements for Loop and Copilot content vary by feature
Copilot pages require a OneDrive site to function. However, if a OneDrive site exists and the license is later removed, Copilot pages continue to work.
Shared Loop workspaces and Loop pages created in shared Loop workspaces don't require an active OneDrive site or OneDrive creation policy. The personal workspace (e.g. "My workspace") requires an active OneDrive site or OneDrive creation policy.
Apps that store pages or components in OneDrive or SharePoint will require both a OneDrive site and an active OneDrive license (service plan).
A SharePoint or OneDrive license (service plan) is required for full feature access. Accounts with no OneDrive or SharePoint storage may have limitations (e.g. Accounts that only have an Exchange mailbox). For more information on Loop storage, see Overview of Loop workspaces storage and permissions.
Loop components
Loop components are available to anyone with access to Teams, Outlook, Word Online, Whiteboard, OneNote, SharePoint, OneDrive, Loop, and other supported Microsoft apps.
Loop app & workspaces
The Microsoft Loop app is available to everyone with a work or school account (Microsoft Entra account, formerly Azure Active Directory account). Anyone with access to the Loop app can view Loop pages and components, view the Loop components they've recently used across other apps like Teams and Outlook, view Loop workspaces to which they've been added, and more.
As of February 2026, anyone with access to the Loop app that meets the storage requirements described above can create Loop workspaces, add members to workspaces, and remove members from workspaces.
IT administrators who set organizational policy can enable or disable the ability to create new Loop workspaces or Loop pages and components.
Copilot in the Loop app for work or school accounts
A Copilot for Microsoft 365 plan is required to use Copilot features in the Loop app.
The Loop apps for iOS, Android, and the web are available to anyone with a personal Microsoft account.
Loop components are not yet supported in Teams, Outlook, or other apps when used with a personal Microsoft account.
Loop and Microsoft storage
During the Loop app Public Preview, Loop workspaces and pages created in the Loop app didn't count towards personal or organizational storage quotas.
As of June 25, 2024, Loop workspaces and pages will now count towards an individual's Microsoft storage quota. Loop workspaces no longer have a 5GB maximum size.
Caution:Â If you exceed your Microsoft cloud storage, you won't be able to send or receive email. Learn more.
Copilot in Loop for personal accounts
Copilot isn't available in Loop for personal Microsoft accounts. A Microsoft 365 Personal, Family, or Premium plan won't enable any Copilot features in Loop.
