Record a meeting in Microsoft Teams Free

Record calls or meetings for later viewings or share with others in Teams Free. Meeting recordings can capture audio, video, and screen sharing activity.
Who can start or stop a recording?

Any participant with an M365 subscription in a call or meeting can start and stop a recording.

The organizer doesn't need to attend for a call or meeting recording.

Participants without an M365 subscription can't start or stop a recording.

Only the participant who started the recording can delete it.

Start recording

Start or join the meeting.

To start recording, tap More actions

Tap Start recording
.
Everyone in the meeting will be notified that recording has started.
Stop recording

In the meeting controls, select More actions
. -
Tap Stop recording
.
The recording will be processed and then ready to play. It will be saved in chat for 30 days.
Find recordings
Meeting recording will appear in the meeting chat and can be downloaded to your mobile device.
Start recording
In a Teams meeting, one person can record at a time. When you start recording a meeting, everyone will be notified automatically. You can also turn on live captions and view them during the meeting.
To start a meeting recording:

Start or join the meeting.

In the meeting controls, select More actions
. -
Choose Start recordingÂ
.
Note:Â Meeting recordings won't capture more than four participants video streams at once.
Stop recording
Note: If the person who started the recording leaves the meeting, the recording will stop. ​​​​​​​

In the meeting controls, select More actions
. -
Select Stop recording
. -
Choose Stop.
Find recordings

Recordings are available in the meeting chat after the recording stopped.

The recording is saved in OneDrive, where it will last for 30 days until expiration. Upon expiration, the recording will no longer be available to access.​​​​​​​
Meeting recording expiration and download
Your recording video will expire 30 days after the recording has been saved. Watching the recording won't affect the expiration date. To retain your recordings for longer, you can use the download feature.

Find the recording in the meeting chat.

Select DownloadÂ
 below the recording date and time.
Meeting recording deletion
Note:Â Only the person who started recording can delete the recording.
To delete a recording:​​​​​​​

Find the recording in the meeting chat.

Select
on the recording. -
Select Delete
.
Privacy
Important:Â If one of the participants is a minor, their audio and video will be disabled due to our privacy and compliance policies. Minors cannot have access to recording features in meetings.
All meeting participants will see a notification in their Teams desktop, web, or mobile app as soon as a meeting recording starts.
Depending on your region, you may need everyone's permission before you can record them. For more information, see the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
All participants in the meeting chat will have access to the recording once recording is stopped.
