Start the Microsoft 365 Personal subscription included with your Office Pre-installed PC

Step 1:

Boot your device and Windows Set-up starts

Connect to Internet and then accept the Windows license agreement and proceed the steps to custumize the system settings.

Step 2:

Unlock Microsoft Experience screen opens

Select the Sign in button

Sign in with your Microsoft account and start the steps for the services with your Micrsoft account required.

Step 3:

'Your device comes with 24 months of Microsoft 365 Personal for free' screen opens

This indicates that your device comes with a Microsoft 365 Personal 24-month free subscription.

If you want to start the subscription in Windows Set-up, read the explanation of this subscription carefully, and select Continue button and go to step 4.

Step 4:

'Start the 24 months free Microsoft 365 subscription right now' screen opens

'Recurring billing' switch is turned on by default

Turn the Recurring billing switch on or off in this screen.

According to your choice, please select either 'Turn the switch on' or 'Turn the switch off' from the options below and proceed to Step 5.

Option 1: Turn the switch on

Step 5:

The 'Start the 24 months free Microsoft 365 subscription right now' screen opens

This state of this screen indicates that no payment method has registered in your Microsoft account yet. If you want to start a 24-month full subscription, you need to register at least one payment method in your Microsoft account.

Select Add Payment method button in the screen

Step 6:

Add your credit card screen opens

Enter your payment information

Select Next button

Step 7:

Add your billing address screen opens

Enter your billing address.

Select Next button

Step 8:

Return to the 'Start the 24 months free Microsoft 365 subscription right now' screen

This indicates that the payment method (your credit card) registered to your Microsoft account has been designated as the billing method for the auto renewal of Microsoft 365 Personal.

Select the Confirm button if there is no problem with that selection

Step 9:

You're all set screen opens

This indicates that the 24 months subscription starts successfully.

Select Next button and complete remaining other process in Windows Set-up

Option 2: Turn the switch off

Step 5:

The title changes to "Turn on recurring billing to activate all 24 months for free".

You can start the 3-month free trial subscription with recurring billing turned off. (In other words, you can start this subscription regardless of whether a payment method is registered to your Microsoft account.)

Select Next button

Step 6:

You're all set screen opens

This indicates that the 3-month trial subscription starts successfully.

Select Next button and complete remaining other process in Windows Set-up

Step 1:

Go to Microsoft account dashboard in the web browser

Sign in with your Microsoft account

Step 2:

Main Dashboard page opens

Select the Subscription icon in the left menu

Step 3:

Subscription page opens

You can see the status of your active Microsoft 365 Personal subscription displayed in it. Please check the next billing date or the expiration date is displayed based on your subscription (24-month full or 3-month trial).

Step 2:

You've got Office screen opens

The app is automatically signed in with your Microsoft account, and the screen indicates that your account has the active Microsoft 365 subscription.

Select Get started button

Step 3:

Accept the License agreement screen opens

It indicates that the Microsoft 365 apps are activated.

Select the Accept button to accept the agreement

Step 4:

After accepting, configure the remaining settings and complete the Set-up in the client app.

Step 5:

Check the Microsoft 365 apps are activated in the Product info in Account menu in the apps

Step 2:

Select Network and Internet menu, and then check that your device is connected to Internet in the main page

Step 3:

Select System menu, and then select Activation menu

Make sure that Windows is activated.

Step 4:

Select Apps menu, and then select Installed apps menu

Make sure that the version number of "Microsoft 365 ja-jp".

If you check the number is already  "16.0.19231.20xxx" or later version, go to next step.

Step 2:

The top of the Microsoft Store app opens

Select the Library Icon in this app, then select the Included with device tab

Step 3:

Make sure that the item below is displayed under the tab

"Microsoft 365 Personal"

If you can see this item, check the expiration date is set with 180 days after Windows activation, and close the app.

Step 2:

"Your device comes with the 24 months of Microsoft 365 Personal" dialog opens first on the app

This indicates that the Microsoft 365 Personal 24-month free subscription is included with your device.

Select Continue button in the bottom of the dialog

Step 3:

Before you continue... dialog opens

Select Confirm button to agree to Microsoft Service Agreement

Step 4:

We found your product opens

This indicates that the Microsoft 365 Personal 24-month free offer is ready to be redeemed with your Microsoft account.

Select Confirm button if your account is correct.

Step 5:

Activate 24 months of Microsoft 365 Personal for free opens

The 'Recurring billing' switch is turned on by default.

Please turn the 'Recurring billing' switch on or off

According your choice, please select either "Turn the switch on" or "Turn the switch off" from the options below and proceed to Step 6.

Option 1: Turn the switch on

Step 6:

The title is "Activate 24 months of Microsoft 365 Personal for free" in the dialog

This dialog indicates that you can start the 24 months free subscription.

If you can see "Add payment method" button in this dialog, you need at least one payment method add in your Microsoft account.

Select Add Payment method button in the bottom of this dialog

Step 7:

Choose a way of payment dialog opens

In this dialog, you choose either A credit card or debit card or PayPal as the payment method to add to your account. (As an example, we explain the steps when choosing A credit card or debit card.)

Select Next button

Step 8:

Add your credit card screen opens

Enter your credit card information and billing address.

Select Next button

Step 9:

Confirm your billing details dialog opens

This indicates that the payment method registered in your Microsoft account is selected for the billing of the 24-month subscription

Select Confirm button in the bottom if this selection is correct

Step 10:

Completed successfully dialog opens

This indicates that the Microsoft 365 Personal 24 month subscription starts successfully with your account.

Select Get started button

Step 11:

Accept License Agreement dialog opens

This indicates the Microsoft 365 client apps are activated by Microsoft 365 Personal license successfully.

Select Accept button

Step 12:

Finish the Privacy Settings

Complete the remaining steps on a client app

Step 13:

Select the Account menu in the apps and look the status of the Product Info.

You can see the app is activated with the Microsoft 365 license.

Option 2: Turn the switch off

Step 6:

The title changes to "Turn on recurring billing to activate all 24 months for free".

You can start the 3-month free trial subscription with no next billing after 3 months passed regardless of whether a payment method is registered on your account or not.

Select Next button in the bottom of the dialog

Step 7:

Completed successfully opens

This indicates that the 3-month trial subscription starts successfully with your account.

Select Get started button

Step 8:

Accept License Agreement dialog opens

This indicates the client apps are activated successfully.

Select Accept button

Step 9:

Finish all Privacy Settings

Complete the Set-up on a client app

Step 10:

Select the Account menu in the left-pane of the apps and look the status of the Product Info.

You can see the app is activated with the Microsoft 365 license.
