There’s another way to archive. Click FILE > Cleanup Tools > Archive. The difference between this tool and AutoArchive is that you start the archive manually.

AutoArchive makes sense if your mailbox always seems to be full and you just don't have the time to deal with archiving. But, there's another way. Click the FILE tab, Cleanup Tools, and Archive.
The main difference between this tool and AutoArchive is that you initiate the archive manually.
If you have already set up AutoArchive, you can select Archive all folders according to their AutoArchive settings, and the archive will start as soon as you click OK.
Or, you can select Archive this folder and all subfolders:, and set up your options down here.
Notice the things look a little different.
For example, at the top, you can select what you want to archive.
If you want to archive the entire mailbox, select the account at the top.
Next, you choose an aging period.
Click the arrow next to Archive items older than: and pick a date.
If you want your aging period to be six months, pick a date six months prior to the current date.
You can also decide whether to check Include items with "Do not AutoArchive" checked. If you don't use the "Do not AutoArchive" option, you can ignore this setting.

Finally, click Browse, choose a location and an existing archive file, or type a new name, then click OK, and OK. And, the mailboxes are immediately archived.
By the way, if you decide you want to switch to manual archiving, you can turn off AutoArchive. Here is how to do it.
Click the FILE tab and Options.
Click Advanced and AutoArchive Settings..., then uncheck Run AutoArchive every and click OK.
