Understanding the location where other people are working from can be essential for effective collaboration. You can view the location of other people in your organization in Teams when viewing their profile information. 

Note: By setting up work location, users enable anyone in the organization to view this information.

Note: Microsoft Places location services in Teams is available as part of the public preview program and might undergo further changes before being released publicly. To get access to this and other upcoming features, switch to Teams public preview.

View location from profile card details

Here's an example of how availability appears on a profile card. Note the "Working from building..." below availability and time zone.

Note: If you aren't able to view location-related information on the profile card, it could be due to privacy settings set by that person. 

View people list in the group chat

Select an existing group chat that includes individuals whose location you'd like to learn about. 

Select View and add participants below your account manager at the top right of Teams. 

Hover over on the people in the list. People who shared their work location for the day will have that information displayed under their name.

Note: A group chat is limited to 250 people, and by default the list is alphabetically ordered. You may not be able to view location information of people from different organizations. 

View who's nearby from the chat window  

While having a conversation in the one-on-one chat chat window, Teams will present a Nearby indication on the top of the chat window if they are nearby you. This information only appears when both sender and receiver are in the same office building at that time.
