Support for Windows 10 has ended on October 14, 2025
After October 14, 2025, Microsoft will no longer provide free software updates from Windows Update, technical assistance, or security fixes for Windows 10. Your PC will still work, but we recommend moving to Windows 11.
Summary
Support for Mail and Calendar for Windows 10 ended on December 31, 2024. These apps can no longer send or receive email or calendar events. If you see a message that your account settings are out of date, it’s because the app is no longer supported and can’t connect to your email service.
To continue using email and calendar on Windows, switch to the new Outlook for Windows or Outlook.com.
What you should do
Move to the new Outlook for Windows (recommended):
The new Outlook for Windows is the supported replacement for Mail and Calendar and works with Outlook.com, Microsoft 365, Gmail, Yahoo, and other email accounts.
-
Open Mail or Calendar.
-
When prompted, select Open Outlook, or install Outlook for Windows from the Microsoft Store.
-
Follow the on‑screen instructions to add your email account.
Tip: Outlook for Windows is free for personal email accounts and doesn’t require a Microsoft 365 subscription.
Access your email on the web
If you prefer not to install an app, you can access your email and calendar online:
-
Go to https://outlook.com
-
Sign in with your email account
What happens to your existing data
Any local emails, contacts, or calendar events stored in Mail or Calendar remain exportable.
If you need your existing data:
-
Export it from Mail or People.
-
Import it into the new Outlook for Windows.
For step‑by‑step guidance, see Export emails and contacts from Windows Mail or People and import to Outlook.
Why this change happened?
Mail and Calendar for Windows 10 were retired as part of Microsoft’s move to a single, modern email and calendar experience. The new Outlook for Windows provides ongoing security updates, modern authentication, and continued feature improvements.
