Search for an AutoText in the Report Editor screen

The Report Editor includes an AutoText tab that supports searching, previewing, editing, cloning, and applying Templates and Macros directly within the reporting workflow. This allows you to quickly locate relevant content, review it in context, and insert or manage AutoText without leaving the report.

Search Templates or Macros

  1. Open a report in the Report Editor.
  2. In the AutoText tab (bottom pane), select the Type column header to group Templates or Macros.
  3. Use the drop‑down to filter results by Relevant (default), All PersonalAll SiteRelevant PersonalRelevant SiteAll Users or Sections.
  4. Search using the Search by AutoText name field.

Preview content

  • Select a row to preview the Template or Macro. The preview appears in the right pane.
  • Icons identify Templates Template icon  and Macros Image displaying Macro icon in the results grid.

Refine results with filters

Select the Filters icon to narrow results using Relevant, Owner, Anatomy, Section or Folder.

Available actions

When previewing a Template or Macro, you can perform the following actions based on the AutoText type:

  • Insert: Inserts the selected Template or Macro into the current report.

  • Replace: Replaces all existing report content (Templates only, available when the report already contains text).

  • More options (ellipsis):

    • Edit: Opens the AutoText Editor.
    • Clone: Creates a copy of the selected Template or Macro.

Customize the results grid

  • Sort results by selecting column headers.
  • Right‑click a column header to add or remove Section, Folder, and Last Used columns.
  • Type, Name, and Owner columns are fixed.

Create AutoText from the Report Editor

Select Create in the search results pane to open the AutoText Manager and create a new AutoText. For details, see Create an AutoText.

Update the default Template

The current default Template appears selected in the drop‑down menu in the Report header.

To change the default:

  • Select a different Template from the drop‑down list.
  • The selected Template replaces the existing default and all report content.

Note

Only Templates categorized for the procedure associated with the report appear in the list.
