To find out if Windows can fix the problem, close a desktop app that appears blurry on your main display and then open it again. If an app still appears blurry, you can try to use a different high-DPI compatibility setting for that app instead of the Let Windows try to fix apps so they’re not blurry setting.

Upgrade to the latest Windows version: Windows version 1803 introduced a new feature that can fix blurry apps on your primary monitor (you will need to restart the app after connecting or disconnecting a monitor). See Fix apps that appear blurry in Windows 10 for more details on how to enable

Windows 10 or 11: Select Start, choose Settings, and then select System > Display. Under Brightness and color, move the Change brightness slider to adjust the brightness. For more details, see: Change screen brightness

When you use a high-DPI device such as a Surface Pro 3, Surface Pro 4, or Surface Book together with external monitors, you experience the following issues: Elements such as applications, the taskbar, icons, toolbars, text, and dialog boxes appear to be fuzzy. Elements are too large or too small compared to the rest of the desktop.

The sharper the image, the greater the contrast along the edges of objects in the picture and the softer the image the fuzzier the picture. Presets To choose one of the most common, built-in blurriness adjustments, click Presets, and then click the option that you want.

Magnify your screen. Magnifier enlarges part or all of your screen so you can see words and images better. To open Magnifier quickly, press the Windows logo key + Plus sign (+). When Magnifier is open, use Windows logo key + Plus sign (+) or Windows logo key + Minus sign (-) to zoom in or out. To close Magnifier, press Windows logo key + Esc.

Crop, flip, or rotate photos to trim out the unwanted parts manually or use preset aspect ratios. You can also rotate a photo left and right by 90 degrees or by incremental degrees—or flip an image by 180 degrees. While viewing an image, select Edit image from the top of your screen.

Correct blurry and dark pictures, change the look with an artistic effects, and add borders or shadows to make pictures stand out. Adjust the brightness, contrast, or sharpness. Select the picture. Select Picture Tools > Format and select Corrections. Hover over the options to preview them and select the one you want. Apply Artistic Effects.
