You can use Authenticator to sign in to your Microsoft personal, work, school or other accounts. Authenticator can be used three ways: As a way to verify sign-in if you forget your password. As a way to sign in every time, by using a one-time password code to increase account security.

Sign in using Microsoft Authenticator. Microsoft Authenticator helps you sign in to your accounts if you've forgotten your password, use two-step verification or multi-factor authentication, or have gone passwordless on your account.

Add a new account to the Microsoft authenticator app. You can set up your work or school account on the Microsoft Authenticator app for Android or iOS. Important: If you already set up your work or school account in the Microsoft Authenticator app, you don't need to do it again.

These keys allow you to sign in to your work or school account to access your organization's cloud-based resources when on a supported device and web browser. Your administrator or your organization will provide you with a security key if they require it for your work or school account.

Try to re-enable faceID or fingerprint in the device settings and restart the device. Use the faceID or fingerprint to unlock the device after restart, then try to re-enable passwordless for the account in Microsoft Authenticator.

By setting up MFA, you add an extra layer of security to your Microsoft 365 account sign-in. For example, you first enter your password and, when prompted, you also type a dynamically generated verification code provided by an authenticator app or sent to your phone.

Activate Microsoft 365 or a non-subscription version of Office that's pre-installed on a new Windows device. If this screen appears, a trial version of Microsoft 365 Family or a trial version of a non-subscription version of Office is installed.
