Add an interactive Learning Zone lesson to an assignment so students can complete it inline and have their scores sync automatically. Learning Zone lessons are interactive lessons with slides, quizzes, and activities created in the Learning Zone app. This works in Teams Assignments and in any LMS that uses Microsoft 365.
Add a Learning Zone lesson
-
In Teams, navigate to your class team and select Assignments. In your LMS, open the assignment creation flow through Microsoft 365.
-
Select Create > New Assignment.
-
Select Learning Zone from the assignment creation options.
-
In the Lesson Picker (the dialog where you browse your lessons), browse or search for the lesson you want to attach (by lesson name or date created).
-
Select the lesson and select Attach.
-
Fill in the remaining assignment details (title, due date, points). If you haven't entered a title, it will auto-fill from the lesson name.
-
Select Assign.
Note:Â You can attach only one Learning Zone lesson per assignment. You can still add other resources (files, links) alongside it.
Tip:Â In your LMS: You can also attach a Learning Zone lesson directly from the LMS deeplinking launch of Microsoft 365, without opening Teams first.
Create a new lesson from the Lesson Picker
If you don't have a lesson ready, you can create one directly from the assignment flow. Creating new lessons requires a Copilot+ PC (a Windows PC with a Neural Processing Unit that supports AI features).
-
In the Lesson Picker, select Create in Learning Zone.
-
The Learning Zone app opens on your Copilot+ PC.
-
Create your lesson and save it.
-
Back in the assignment creation flow, select the Refresh button in the Lesson Picker to see your new lesson.
-
Select the lesson and attach it to your assignment.
Note:Â If Learning Zone isn't installed yet, you'll see a link to download it.
Preview a lesson
After attaching a lesson, you can preview how students will experience it:
-
Select Student Preview from the assignment.
-
The lesson opens in an embedded view showing the interactive content as students will see it.
Tips
-
Each lesson can only be attached to one assignment at a time to support grade sync.
-
Learning Zone lessons cannot be used in group assignments.
-
Scores sync automatically based on completion percentage (e.g., 75% completion = 75 points).
-
Students can complete the lesson on desktop or mobile. On mobile phones, the lesson opens in the mobile browser.
Things to keep in mind
-
You cannot override synced scores from Learning Zone in the Assignments gradebook.
-
You cannot mark a Learning Zone submission as excused or return it for revision.
-
Due date enforcement happens in Teams Assignments or your LMS, not in Learning Zone.
