Symptoms

When you use Microsoft SQL Server 2019 or 2017, you notice that when you rebuild system databases, this action removes the login for the SQL Server Customer Experience Improvement Program (CEIP).

Additionally, many instances of SQL Server error 18456 might be generated when you try to run dynamic management view (DMV) queries on the SQL Server instance after the rebuild is finished.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
