Summary
This article describes an important update to Azure Backup for Microsoft Azure Recovery Services (MARS) Agent version to 2.0.9269.0, that is used both by Microsoft Azure Backup and the Microsoft Azure Site Recovery service to transport data to Azure.
Important improvements
This update contains the following improvements:
-
Fix errors in offline seeding for customer owned disks in azurebackupofflineseeding tool.
-
Fix errors related to scheduled backups failing intermittently leading to the crashing of MARS.
Important: Deprecation of File Catalog based item level recovery for DPM and MABS.
The following versions of System Center Data Protection Manager (DPM) and Microsoft Azure Backup Server (MABS) use an outdated File Catalog based item level recovery. With MARS 2.0.9269.0, the File Catalog is replaced with a faster iSCSI-based item level recovery, and you need to update your DPM or MABS installation to support iSCSI-based item level recovery. If you are using any of the older versions of DPM or MABS listed below and upgrade to MARS 2.0.9269.0, you will see a dialog blocking item level recovery from online recovery points.
It is recommended that you upgrade your DPM and MABS installation to the recommended version before installing MARS 2.0.9269.0. Once you upgrade, item level recovery of existing recovery points will also be supported via iSCSI.
