Adults with a Member role in a Family group
Why are safety settings applied to my device?
If you're part of a Microsoft Family group, an organiser may have configured safety settings for your account, such as content filters or screen time limits. If you're an adult, you can choose whether to allow organisers to manage these safety settings - see below.
How can I turn off the safety settings applied by the organiser?
If you're an adult, you can disable the safety settings yourself from Microsoft Family Safety:
Visit account.microsoft.com/family and sign in.
- Select your member card.
- Go to Control your safety settings access.
- Select Disable all settings.
Once disabled, the organiser will no longer be able to manage these safety settings for your account.
I'm an adult. Why can't I manage my own safety settings?
Safety settings are managed by the family organiser and cannot be configured by adult members, but as an adult, you can choose to allow the organiser to manage your safety settings for you. You can also choose to opt out of those settings entirely - see above.
Adults not part of Family group
How can I see if I’m part of a Family group?
Visit account.microsoft.com/family and sign in.
- If you're not part of a family group, you will not see any family member.
- If you do see a family listed, you may have been added previously.
Why am I seeing Family safety restrictions if I'm not part of a Family group?
