Use Keyboard shortcuts in Microsoft Teams Free

You can use an external keyboard with keyboard shortcuts for Microsoft Teams Free on Windows to help you work more efficiently. Keyboard shortcuts can be used as an alternative to a touchscreen. They're an essential alternative to a mouse for those who have mobility or vision disabilities. This article itemizes the keyboard shortcuts for Microsoft Teams Free on Windows or the web app using a PC keyboard.

Show keyboard shortcuts

You can access the keyboard shortcuts directly from within the app in several ways. The methods below apply to both the Desktop and Web apps.

  • Press Ctrl+Period (⁠.⁠).
  • Select the Settings and more generic-ellipsis-button-icon button in the upper-right corner of Microsoft Teams Free, and then select Keyboard shortcuts. To use shortcuts from 3rd party apps, select an option in the Use shortcuts from other apps dropdown menu.
  • To navigate to the keyboard shortcuts with a screen reader, press the Tab key until you hear "Settings and more," then press Enter. Press the Down arrow key until you hear "Keyboard shortcuts," then press Enter.

  • The shortcuts in this topic refer to the US keyboard layout. Keys for other layouts might not correspond exactly to the keys on a US keyboard.
  • A plus sign (+) in a shortcut means that you need to press multiple keys at the same time.
  • A comma sign (,) in a shortcut means that you need to press multiple keys in order.
  • You can easily access the keyboard shortcuts list from within Microsoft Teams Free.

If you've changed the order of your apps or added additional apps, the command depends on the app's sequential order on the app bar.
