The Clipchamp video editor is available for Microsoft 365 commercial customers and for education customers.
To help you get started, this FAQ answers common questions about using the video editor with your work or school account, where to find it, which plans include it, and how it works with other Microsoft products.

What is the difference between using Clipchamp with a work or school account versus using Clipchamp with a personal account?
The personal version of Clipchamp
The personal version uses your personal Microsoft account and keeps its projects separate from your work or school account. For sign-in and account creation, see How to create and access a Clipchamp account. For free and premium features, see Clipchamp personal plans.
The work version of Clipchamp
Clipchamp Standard is an included service in the business and education licenses listed below. By default, Clipchamp is enabled for users who have one of these licenses assigned to them by their organization.

* The Microsoft 365 E3/E5 (and A3/A5) Extra Features licenses are available for subscribers of the Microsoft 365 E3/E5 (and A3/A5) Original SKUs. Extra Features licenses are not available for the Microsoft 365 A3/A5 Student Use Benefit Original SKUs and therefore Clipchamp can't be made available through them. To provide Clipchamp through a Student Use Benefit license, customers must move to the Microsoft 365 A3/A5 Student Use Benefit Unified SKUs.
Additional notes on availability
For current plan information, see the Microsoft Clipchamp service description. If you have an eligible license but can't open the editor, ask your admin to check that Clipchamp is enabled for your account and troubleshoot any licensing or provisioning issues.
Clipchamp isn't available in Office 365 Education SKUs (Office 365 A3, A5) at this stage.
The Clipchamp video editor also isn't currently available in Microsoft 365 Government or Office 365 Government SKUs (G3, G5).

How can I tell which version I'm in?
The work version of Clipchamp is only available if you have a work or school Microsoft account that's managed by your organization, employer, or educational institution.
The Clipchamp home page in Microsoft 365 lets you find videos, Teams meeting recordings, playlists, and video editing projects. Open the Clipchamp start page in Edge or Chrome. You can also access the work or school version by signing in to the Clipchamp desktop app for Windows with your work or school account.
If you're in the work version in the browser, the web address is your organization's SharePoint or OneDrive address, such as contoso.sharepoint.com.
For the personal version, open app.clipchamp.com and sign in with your personal Microsoft account. Your personal projects are separate from the projects in your work or school account.

When can I access Clipchamp with my work or school account?
Access to the video editor depends on the license assigned to your work or school account and whether your administrator has enabled the Microsoft Clipchamp service for you.
If you don't see Clipchamp in your Microsoft 365 apps yet, ask your admin whether Clipchamp is available in your organization.
Where can users with work or school accounts access Clipchamp?
There are several entry points to launch Clipchamp.
- The Microsoft 365 apps page, where you can select Clipchamp if it's available for your account.
- The Clipchamp start page in Microsoft 365 for the web.
- The Microsoft 365 Create page.
- From OneDrive or a SharePoint document library, where you can create a Clipchamp video editing project. To start from an existing video file, select it, then select Open > Edit in Clipchamp.
- The Microsoft Clipchamp video player interface, where you can start an editing project from a video if you have the required access permissions for the file.
- In the Clipchamp desktop app for Windows.
How can I edit a video with Clipchamp?
To get started, select the Work version tab in How to edit a video, or watch our quick tutorial video.
To add images, videos, and audio, select My media in the sidebar, and then select Import media.
Drag media to the timeline, extend or trim clips to adjust the duration, and preview the video by selecting Play. You can also record your screen or webcam and add text to your video.
When you're finished editing, select Export, choose your export settings, and confirm the export. By default, the exported video is saved to OneDrive or SharePoint. You can also save a copy to your computer if your organization's policies and the project's sensitivity settings allow it. For more information, see Exporting and saving a video in Clipchamp.
Can I move projects created in Clipchamp for personal accounts into the work version?
No, this is not possible at this stage.
Does the Clipchamp desktop application support work and school accounts?
Yes. The current Clipchamp Windows app supports work and school accounts, subject to your organization's access policies. For signing in and switching accounts, see Windows app sign-in guidance. Admins can manage Windows app availability separately from editor licensing.
Are the features the same across Clipchamp's work and personal versions?
Feature availability and stock media collections can differ between the personal and work or school versions, and between plans.

What is the best way to stay updated on the availability of features?
New features are announced in the Microsoft 365 Message center, which your admin can access, and on the Microsoft 365 roadmap.
Can I change the language that Clipchamp is displayed in?
Clipchamp is available in the languages that OneDrive and SharePoint support and you can change the language of the app if this is enabled in your organization by your administrator. Selecting a preferred language is possible via your SharePoint personal profile page.
When you access Clipchamp through its desktop app for Windows, the language of the UI is controlled by the language you set for Windows.
Can multiple people edit the same video at the same time?
It's not possible for multiple people to edit the same video at the same time. However, projects can be shared via OneDrive or SharePoint, duplicated, or edited at separate times. See the Work version tab in Sharing a Clipchamp video or project.
What types of integration exist within Microsoft 365?

Clipchamp and Stream were brought together under the Clipchamp brand. For more details, see the brand unification announcement.
By default, videos exported from the Clipchamp video editor are saved to OneDrive or SharePoint. Once a video is saved there, you can open its video player page and use the sharing options available to you, including creating a sharing link. The player also supports features such as chapters.
If you export a video only to your computer, upload it to OneDrive or SharePoint before using these Microsoft 365 sharing and player features. Your organization's policies and sensitivity settings can restrict download and sharing options.
You can also launch the editor from a video's player page, which lets you apply more detailed edits. For the Open editor button to appear, you need the required access rights for the video file.
Is it possible to import or export transcripts, chapters, or other metadata from Clipchamp editing projects on the video's player page?
On a video's player page in Microsoft 365, it is possible to generate transcripts and captions, if you have the required access rights. You can also translate these captions, upload your own captions file or download the captions that were auto-generated.
It is however not possible to extract captions or other metadata on the player page if these elements are "burnt in" parts of the video that were added to it in the Clipchamp video editor. The transcripts and captions on the video player page and in the video editor are separate features at this stage.
To download a separate .srt captions file from the video editor, see How to use autocaptions in Clipchamp. Downloading the file doesn't automatically add a captions track to the exported video's player page.
Can admins turn off access to Clipchamp?
Microsoft 365 admins can manage the availability of Clipchamp for individual users, groups of users, or their entire organization.
How are Clipchamp projects stored?
Clipchamp projects are stored as files in OneDrive and SharePoint document libraries. For more information, see the Work version tab in How Clipchamp stores and processes media files in editing projects.
Is it possible to edit Teams meeting recordings in Clipchamp?
Yes. If you have the necessary access rights for the recording, go to it in OneDrive, and then select Open > Edit in Clipchamp.
When I edit a video in OneDrive, is the original video file replaced or updated immediately?
No. When you export the edited video, Clipchamp saves it as a new video by default unless you choose to replace the original.
How do I access Clipchamp with a Microsoft 365 A3 or A5 subscription?
Your school must assign an eligible Microsoft 365 Education license to your account and enable the Microsoft Clipchamp service. Check the license table and the notes about Student Use Benefit and Extra Features licenses, then use one of the work or school entry points with your school account.
If you can't access the editor, ask your admin to check that Clipchamp is enabled. If it's enabled but access still fails, your admin can check the provisioning status and troubleshoot licensing issues.
Does Clipchamp for work or school accounts function on MCAS URLs?
The video editor doesn't currently support Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps reverse-proxy URLs that include mcas.ms, such as https://contoso.sharepoint.com.mcas.ms/. Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps was previously called Microsoft Cloud App Security (MCAS).
This limitation concerns reverse-proxy sessions, not every Microsoft Entra Conditional Access policy. If Clipchamp doesn't load through an MCAS URL, contact your admin to review the affected access and session controls.
