Summary
You manage your Microsoft 365 subscription in different places depending on where you bought it:
- Bought from Microsoft: Manage it at your Microsoft account subscriptions page.
- Bought from a third party (e.g. Apple, Google, retailer): Manage it through that provider.
How to check where your subscription is managed
Sign in to your Microsoft subscriptions page at account.microsoft.com/services, using the Microsoft account you used to purchase Microsoft 365.
Find your Microsoft 365 subscription
- If you see options like Manage, Cancel, or Change payment, your subscription is billed by Microsoft.
- If management options are limited or missing, your subscription may be managed by a third party.
If you bought your Microsoft 365 subscription from Microsoft
Microsoft subscriptions are managed entirely through your Microsoft account.
If you purchased directly from Microsoft (for example, via the Microsoft Store or online), you can manage all subscription settings in one place. Go to Manage your Microsoft 365 subscription. From there, you can:
- Manage subscription sharing (if applicable)
- Turn recurring billing on or off
- Change or update your payment method
- Renew your subscription
- Switching or upgrading your plan
- Cancel your subscription
- Check expiry or next billing date.
If you bought your subscription through an app store or retailer
If your Microsoft 365 subscription was purchased through a third‑party provider—such as
- Apple App Store
- Google Play
- Amazon or other retail partners
You must manage billing and subscription settings with that provider directly.
- Microsoft cannot cancel, refund, or modify billing for these subscriptions.
- You’ll need to contact the provider or use their account settings.
Third‑party partners handle tasks such as cancelling, renewing, or updating payment methods.
Microsoft 365 subscriptions bought in mobile apps
If you bought Microsoft 365 through a mobile app:
- iPhone/iPad: Manage subscriptions in Apple ID settings.
- Android: Manage subscriptions in Google Play.
Subscriptions purchased this way are billed through your app store account and must be managed there.
Important
- Always sign in with the same Microsoft account used to purchase your subscription.
- Microsoft cannot process refunds or cancellations for third‑party purchases.
- Some third‑party providers may not support switching between plans.
Tip
If you’re unsure where your subscription was purchased, start at the subscriptions page. This is the quickest way to determine who manages your billing and what options are available.
