Applies to Dragon Copilot (physicians) desktop
Use workflows to automatically move content from Dragon Copilot into the appropriate fields in your EHR. Instead of manually navigating to a field and copying and pasting content, you can create a workflow that pairs navigation steps and transfer steps that takes you to the correct location and transfers the content with a voice command, keyboard shortcut, or microphone button.
Note
The features and functionality available to you might vary based on your organization's configuration and regional settings.
What is a transfer in workflows?
A transfer moves content from Dragon Copilot note, memos, orders, generated prompt context, or generated template context into fields in your EHR, such as History of Present Illness or Assessment and Plan. Instead of copying and pasting each section, build a workflow and run it by voice command, keyboard shortcut, or microphone button. Combine transfer with navigation steps to have Dragon Copilot move the cursor to the correct field in your EHR and transfer content into that field.
Use transfers in workflows to:
Save time by moving content into EHR fields with a single spoken command.
Reduce errors from manual copying, pasting, and clicking between fields.
Work quickly and consistently across every patient encounter.
Note
- Field availability might vary based on your organization's configuration. Contact your administrator for more information about available fields for transfer in your EHR.
- Before using transfers in workflows, confirm that Dragon Copilot can enter text into supported fields in your EHR and that you can use keyboard shortcuts to move the cursor to the intended fields.
Transfer has multiple fields:
Source: Select which content you want to transfer with options for Memos, Orders, Templates (e.g. notes, documents), and Prompts.
Select template: If you select Templates (e.g. notes, documents) as the source, select the specific template to run.
Select Sections: If you select Note as the template source, select the specific section or sections to transfer, such as History of Present Illness or Assessment and Plan. You can also choose Selected sections or All sections.
Transfer headings: Select your preference for transferring headings.
Select prompt: If you select Prompts as the source, select the specific prompt to run.
Note
If there is existing content for the selected template or prompt, that content is transferred. If there isn't existing content, Dragon Copilot generates content before transfer.
Pair transfer with navigation steps
Because transfer delivers Dragon Copilot content to the current cursor location, start with the navigation steps that put the cursor in the right place.
Create workflows with these two steps:
Navigation steps: Add steps to move the cursor to the correct field in your EHR. Navigation steps can be Enter text, Keyboard shortcut, Wait, or Press a sequence of keys.
Transfer: Delivers the Dragon Copilot content into the field where the cursor is placed.
When you run the workflow, Dragon Copilot performs the steps in order. It navigates to the target field, then inserts the content you specified.
Create a workflow with transfer
Use transfer in workflows to move content from your Dragon Copilot memos, orders, generated prompt context, or generated template context into your EHR fields. Follow these steps to create a workflow with transfer.

Add a transfer step.
Select your source to transfer and complete any additional required fields.
Add more navigation steps and transfer steps as needed to streamline moving your Dragon Copilot content into your EHR fields.
Select Save to save your workflow.
Note
Navigation steps depend on your organization's EHR configuration. You might need to adjust step parameters, including wait times, tab counts, and shortcut keys, to match your environment.
Use templates and prompts as a source
Select each tab to explore how note section templates, document templates, and prompts work as sources.
You can transfer generated note section template content by using transfer steps.
Select Templates (e.g. notes, documents) as your source in the transfer step.
Select Note in the select template field.
Select the specific section or sections to transfer, such as History of Present Illness or Assessment and Plan.

Sample workflows with transfer
Important
These workflows are samples. Verify that your navigation steps work with your keyboard in your EHR. Navigation steps depend on your organization's EHR configuration.
Select a tab to view sample workflows for transferring Dragon Copilot content into the EHR.
Run a workflow with transfer
Before running a workflow with transfer, ensure that:
Dragon Copilot is running, you're signed in, and the session you want to transfer content from is open.
You complete an ambient recording session, so your content is available.
The Dragon Copilot session containing the content you want to transfer is open and active.
Use one of the following methods to run the workflow:
Use a voice command. Turn on the dictation microphone and say the spoken form - for example, "Transfer my note sections".
Use a keyboard shortcut. After you program a keyboard shortcut for the workflow, place your cursor in the EHR, and then execute the keyboard shortcut.
Use a microphone button. After you program a microphone button for the workflow, place your cursor in the EHR and then select the microphone button.
For more information about using a voice command, keyboard shortcut, and PowerMic or SpeechMike buttons for workflows, see Create, edit, and use workflows.
Important
To use keyboard or microphone buttons, your administrator must turn on the feature in the Dragon admin center.
