Surface battery won’t charge or Surface won’t run on battery
Check that your power supply is working. Check for things that might prevent your Surface device or Windows from starting—or the battery from charging. Make sure that the connections are secure and that nothing is plugged in to the USB charging port on the power supply, if it has this feature.
What to do if your Surface power supply or charger doesn’t work
Check cables and reset your power supply unit: Disconnect the charger from your Surface, unplug the power cable from the power outlet in the wall, and then disconnect any USB accessories. Wait at least 10 seconds.

When the power supply is connected to your Surface and plugged into a power source, the LED indicator on the tip of the charging connector will be lit when your Surface is getting power. If the LED indicator isn’t lit, you may have a problem with your power supply.

If you're using Surface Dock, unplug your Surface from it. Try to turn on your Surface—if that works, the accessory may be the problem. If that didn't work, connect the power supply that was designed for your Surface. When your Surface is plugged in, charge it for at least 15 minutes.

Check your device specs to see if it supports USB-C. USB-C adapters don’t have an on/off switch or LED lights to indicate power, errors, or functionality. If your adapter isn’t responding, remove it and restart your device, then try using the adapter again.
