Collaborative notes make it easy to stay on the same page in one-on-one chat or group chats. You can create agendas, share ideas, and track tasks—all without leaving the chat. Notes update in real time, so everyone sees changes instantly.

Collaborative notes are powered by Loop components. They let you:

  • Add an agenda for your team.

  • Take notes together.

  • Assign tasks to people right in the chat.

Everything stays in one place, so you don’t have to switch apps or copy information later.

Start a new note in a group chat

  1. Open your group chat in Teams.

  2. At the top right of the chat window, select the Open notes  Teams collaborative notes icon icon.

  3. Start typing: add agenda items, notes, or tasks.

Tip: Use @mentions to assign tasks. The person you tag will see it in their To Do and Planner apps.

To close the notes window, select the same icon (Close notes). Your notes will remain there until you edit or delete them.

Notes:

  • Collaborative notes are available in Teams group chats on desktop and web.

  • External guests can’t edit notes.

  • Notes sync across Microsoft 365 apps, so updates show everywhere.
